How do I enlarge my toolbar?

I assume that you want to enlarge the search field on the toolbar. You do so by putting your mouse cursor a small bit to the right of your search toolbar. The cursor should then turn into an arrow that point both to the right and to the left. When you have found the place you only have to press down the mouse button and drag to right or left in order to increase or decrease the size.

How do I delete icon from my toolbar?

You don't have to delete icons from your toolbar, most of the times you could just change the settings to not display the button. If you do it that way you are able to put the button back by changing the settings. The method for doing so depends on what toolbar you are using. How do I customize my toolbar?

It depends on what toolbar you are using. Here is the way for three toolbars:

In Google toolbar go to "Settings -> Options...".

In Yahoo! toolbar go to "Sign In -> and customize toolbar". You'll need a Yahoo! account to change the icons on Yahoo! toolbar.

In Windows Live toolbar, click the blue round icon with a hammer inside.

On other toolbars you have to look for a menu option or a button labeled something like setting or customize. If you can't find it, search for help on the manufactures homepage.

How can I change toolbar?

If you want to change from one toolbar to another you could do so by uninstalling the one you're using and install the one you want to use.

You could also install both toolbar and switch between them using the menu "View -> Toolbars" and check the one you want to use. That menu is available in both Internet Explorer and Firefox. There should also be a similar menu for other web browsers.

Toolbars are a small program that adds functionality to a program. When we refer to toolbars in this FAQ we mean refer to toolbars that should be used in the web browser. These programs functionality are controlled through a row that sits in the browser.

The toolbars functionality varies a lot. There are some that are used to help you search faster, some will help you with your shopping and some are used for gambling. You should consider that there are a lot of toolbars that aren't completely safe, you could read about it a bit further down.

How could I edit my toolbar?

All changes to your toolbars should be done through the settings dialog. Read this answer about how to change the settings.

You could edit your toolbar through the toolbars install files but we don't recommend that. Changing the toolbar settings that way could hurt your computer.

How do I clear my toolbar search history?

It depends on what toolbar you are using. We'll go through the three most used search toolbars below:

In Google toolbar and Windows Live toolbar you could clear the history by typing something in the search text field and wait until the suggest function appears. In the suggest box there should be a link called "Clear Search History"

In Yahoo! toolbar you should find a "Clear Search History" option by clicking the "Option" link in Yahoo! suggest box.

If you are using another search toolbar you should look for a button called something like "Clear Search History". You could also search for help on the manufactures homepage.

Are there any dictionary toolbars available?

Yes there are a couple of toolbars with some dictionary functions available. But we can't really recommend anyone since you didn't specify to what you want for functions. How do toolbars favorites work?

Toolbars with favorite (or bookmark) functions generally saves your favorites on their server. That could be useful if you want to access your favorites from more than one computer. It's also useful if you don't want anyone else on your computer be able to access your favorites as it requires a password to access your favorites.

How can I add a custom toolbar button?

You are able to create your own custom buttons in some toolbars. These buttons could be basics ones that allows you to search through a specific site or more advanced ones that displays weather information or news in the toolbar.

You should go to your toolbar manufacturer's homepage to see if your toolbar allows you to create your own toolbar buttons. You should also be able to find toolbar buttons that others have created.

Which is the standard buttons to my toolbar?

You should go to the toolbar site and see if they have any information about it. In some toolbars there may be a button for resetting your toolbar back to its original state. That button is often called "Restore settings" or something like that.

You could also uninstall your toolbar and then install it again. But in some cases the toolbar saves information about your toolbar, either online or on your computer even after you have uninstalled it.

How can I make my yahoo toolbar go away?

There are a couple of ways to do this. You could either find a uninstall button on the toolbar: "Help -> Uninstall" in both Google toolbar and Windows Live toolbar. Or you could go through the control panel and choose "Add or remove program".

But some toolbars hide their uninstall information on purpose. These toolbars are often classified as spyware (read more here). If you can't find any uninstall information on the manufacturer's homepage you should probably search for a spyware remover program. Search for "uninstall toolbar-name".

Where did my toolbar icons go?

If some buttons has disappeared from your toolbar it's probably only a setting change. You could read here about how to find the settings.

How can I add a new toolbar?

If you want to install a new toolbar you could either install the new toolbar beside your old one or you could uninstall the old one and install the new one.

How can I hide my toolbar?

You can easily hide your toolbar by going through the menu "View -> Toolbars". There should be a list of the toolbars that you have installed together whit some that is included with your browser. Find the toolbar you want to hide and press it.

How to personalize my toolbar?

There are several ways to personalize your toolbar. You could go through the settings and choose the buttons you want to use. In some toolbars you are able to add customized buttons. You could either create a new toolbar button or download a toolbar button that someone else has created.

What is a web toolbar?

A web toolbar is a toolbar that you could place in your web browser. Read this for a definition of a toolbar.

How can I add a printer icon on my toolbar?

We don't know of any toolbar that got a printer icon available. But you can print from your web browser. Often by "File -> Print".

If you mean a toolbar that is for an office program like Words this is the wrong FAQ. But you should probably look in some settings menu.

Is it dangerous to install toolbars?

Some toolbars can contain spyware and viruses. It is quite common for web browser toolbars to contain spyware so therefore we recommend you do really check up on any toolbar that you are about to install. If you install a toolbar from a major company like Microsoft, Google, Yahoo!, AOL or some other really famous company you should be safe. It's the smaller companies that you never heard of that you should be worried about.

If you are uncertain about a toolbar you could do a search to check if anyone has written anything bad about the toolbar. There are several antivirus companies that look for programs that contain viruses and spyware. Those companies sometimes writes warning on the internet, if you find one of those you should be really careful.

How do I find my hidden toolbar?

You can get your hidden toolbars back by going through the menu "View -> Toolbars" and click on the toolbar you want to show.

Are there any good mail toolbars?

The three search toolbars mentioned here all got support for their own mail service (Gmail, Yahoo! mail and msn/hotmail). If you want a toolbar that handles some other mail service you should search for it.

Can I have personal toolbar settings?

There are some toolbars that saves your settings online. If you are using one of those toolbars you can have a personal setting despite of what other persons on your computer are using. Yahoo! toolbar saves its settings online. If you want to find others you should do a search.

If you are using Mozilla Firefox as your browser you are able to have different profiles for each person using your computer. In those profiles you are able to save your own bookmarks, toolbars and any other settings you do. You can start the profile manager by typing "firefox.exe -p" in your run window.

Can I change color of Google toolbar?

No you can't. At least not in any easy way, there may be some way to do it by modifying the install files but that's not recommended.

Can I create a toolbar?

Yes there are some programs to do that with. And as mentioned above you could also install custom made buttons to some toolbars.

Are there any antispy toolbars available?

Yahoo! toolbar has "Anti-spy technology" built in to it. Google toolbar and Microsoft Live toolbar has got phishing filters.

Where can I download a free toolbar?

Most toolbars available are free to use. You could find the download link on their homepages.
